The De’Longhi Magnifica Evo Next occupies a potentially awkward — but interesting — position.
It's much more sophisticated than Magnifica Start.
But it's now close enough in price to machines such as Rivelia and Magnifica Plus that you need to think carefully before buying it.
The Evo Next adds a proper colour display, extensive drink selection, automatic LatteCrema milk preparation and significantly greater personalisation.
So is this the Magnifica to buy?
Or should you save money with Magnifica Start — or spend a little more elsewhere?

What Is Magnifica Evo Next?
Evo Next is one of the more sophisticated machines within the Magnifica family.
It takes the familiar bean-to-cup proposition:
beans → grinder → automatic brewing → coffee
and adds a more modern interface and much greater drink personalisation.
Current UK models include:
ECAM310.80.SB
ECAM312.80.TB
ECAM310.60.B
All currently sit at £649.99 on De’Longhi's UK site before any promotion.
Magnifica Evo vs Evo Next: What's Changed?
Don't confuse Magnifica Evo with Magnifica Evo Next.
They're different machines.
The Evo Next is designed as the more advanced proposition.
The most obvious difference is the interface.
Rather than the simpler icon-based approach of earlier Magnifica machines, Evo Next uses a 2.4-inch TFT colour display with soft-touch controls.
That allows it to offer significantly more guidance and personalisation.
The result is a machine that feels closer to De’Longhi's premium automatics than its entry-level Magnifica models.
What Drinks Does Magnifica Evo Next Make?
Current Evo Next specifications provide up to 13 drinks.
The menu includes black coffee and milk-based options, with LatteCrema handling automatic milk preparation.
This broader menu is one of the strongest reasons to choose Evo Next over Magnifica Start.
But we'd still give the same warning:
Don't count icons.
Count the drinks you'll actually make.
If you drink espresso and cappuccino every day, a thirteen-drink machine doesn't automatically produce better coffee than a four-drink machine.
Coffee Quality
Like the rest of the Magnifica bean-to-cup family, Evo Next grinds beans immediately before brewing.
You can then adjust settings to suit your preference rather than accepting one fixed factory recipe.
This is where Evo Next starts earning its higher price.
It's not simply giving you more drinks.
It's giving you greater ability to tailor them.
That matters much more in households where different people prefer different:
- strengths;
- volumes;
- recipes.
User Profiles
Evo Next supports three user profiles.
This is one of those features that sounds unnecessary until several people share the machine.
Instead of repeatedly changing the coffee settings, each person can maintain their own preferences.
For a single user, this isn't a major selling point.
For a family or shared household, it can be.
Espresso
Evo Next remains a fully automatic machine.
That means espresso is about convenience and repeatability rather than manual control.
You select the drink and preferred settings.
The machine handles the rest.
If your idea of espresso involves adjusting dose to a tenth of a gram and timing individual shots, you're shopping in the wrong category.
Cappuccino and Latte
LatteCrema Hot is one of Evo Next's strongest features.
The system automatically prepares hot milk foam and dispenses it into the cup.
That makes the machine particularly attractive for:
- cappuccino;
- latte macchiato;
- other milk-based drinks.
For households making several milk drinks each morning, automatic milk can be worth substantially more than another handful of black-coffee recipes.
Milk Cleaning
Automatic milk always creates another maintenance requirement.
De’Longhi's LatteCrema system includes cleaning functionality, but milk-contact components still need proper care.
Don't leave milk sitting around inside the system and assume the word “automatic” means “self-maintaining”.
This applies to every automatic milk machine, not just De’Longhi.
Ease of Use
This is where Evo Next improves substantially over cheaper Magnifica machines.
The 2.4-inch colour display gives the machine far more ability to communicate what it's doing.
That helps with:
- drink selection;
- personalisation;
- settings;
- maintenance.
For less technical users, a good display can actually make a sophisticated machine easier to use than a basic machine with cryptic button combinations.
Design
Evo Next still looks recognisably like a Magnifica.
It's more modern than the cheapest machines but doesn't have quite the distinctive compact appearance of Rivelia.
Whether that matters is subjective.
I'd care more about how the machine fits beneath your cupboards and how easily you can access its water, beans and waste containers.
Cleaning and Maintenance
Expect the usual automatic-machine routine:
- grounds container;
- drip tray;
- milk system;
- water tank;
- brewing components;
- periodic descaling.
One advantage of staying within the De’Longhi ecosystem is the amount of documentation and maintenance guidance available for these machines.
But again:
bean-to-cup means automatic coffee preparation, not zero maintenance.
Magnifica Evo Next vs Magnifica Start
This is the obvious comparison.
Magnifica Start
Choose it for:
- lower price;
- simplicity;
- straightforward coffee;
- excellent value.
Evo Next
Choose it for:
- colour display;
- much broader drink selection;
- three profiles;
- more personalisation;
- more premium user experience.
If Start costs £300 and Evo Next costs £650, Start is very hard to ignore.
If Evo Next is heavily discounted, the decision becomes much closer.
MAGNIFICA START VS EVO NEXT

Magnifica Evo Next vs Magnifica Evo
Don't automatically buy “Next” because it sounds newer.
Compare the actual selling prices.
Magnifica Evo can be heavily discounted, and that can make it the better-value machine despite Evo Next's superior interface and features.

Magnifica Evo Next vs Rivelia
This is where things get particularly interesting.
At current official prices, Evo Next sits around £649.99.
Rivelia LatteCrema has also recently appeared around £650 during De’Longhi promotions.
At similar money, Rivelia gains a major advantage:
Bean Switch.
It also has a larger 3.5-inch touchscreen and a more distinctive compact design.
Evo Next counters with the familiar Magnifica proposition and a strong feature set.
If they're the same price, we'd look very closely at Rivelia.

De’Longhi Rivelia

Magnifica Evo Next vs Magnifica Plus
Another awkward comparison.
Magnifica Plus sits immediately above Evo Next within De’Longhi's range and can also be discounted.
That means Evo Next's value is highly price-sensitive.
This is exactly why we don't recommend coffee machines solely from their recommended retail price.

Who Should Buy Magnifica Evo Next?
Buy it if:
- you want automatic milk;
- several people use the machine;
- profiles matter;
- you want a colour display;
- you want a broad drink menu;
- Magnifica Start feels too basic;
- you've found Evo Next at a strong discount.
Who Shouldn't Buy It?
Don't buy it without comparing prices if:
- Magnifica Start does everything you need;
- Magnifica Evo is heavily discounted;
- Rivelia costs roughly the same;
- Magnifica Plus costs only slightly more;
- you mainly drink one simple coffee.
The machine is excellent.
The buying decision is all about context.
Is Magnifica Evo Next Worth £649.99?
This is the hardest question.
At full current official pricing, we'd hesitate.
Not because Evo Next is poor.
It's because £650 buys a lot of coffee machine.
At that level, we'd compare it directly with Rivelia and any discounted Magnifica Plus.
At £450–£500?
Evo Next becomes substantially more compelling.
At around £400?
It could be exceptional value.
Price matters enormously here.
Final Verdict
Magnifica Evo Next is arguably caught between being an excellent machine and a difficult purchase.
The product itself is strong.
You get:
- fresh beans;
- automatic brewing;
- automatic milk;
- 13 drinks;
- colour display;
- three profiles;
- extensive personalisation.
That's a serious automatic coffee machine.
But De’Longhi's own enormous range creates the problem.
Magnifica Start attacks it from below.
Rivelia attacks it from above.
Magnifica Plus sits nearby.
So our recommendation is unusually price-dependent:
buy Evo Next when the discount makes sense — don't simply pay full price without comparing the rest of De’Longhi's range.
