Siemens EQ700 Review: A Serious Alternative to De’Longhi and JURA?

Households wanting a sophisticated touchscreen bean-to-cup machine with lots of drink choice.

When people start shopping for a premium bean-to-cup coffee machine, the same names appear repeatedly:

De’Longhi.

JURA.

Philips.

But the Siemens EQ700 deserves to be in that conversation.

It combines a large full-touch display, automatic milk preparation, an enormous library of international coffee recipes and Home Connect functionality in a machine designed to make fresh-bean coffee almost completely automatic.

Some current EQ700 variants also add Cold Brew.

There's one complication.

EQ700 isn't one machine.

Siemens sells several Classic and Integral variants, and features such as the milk system, bean capacity and Cold Brew functionality can differ.

So before deciding whether the EQ700 is worth buying, you need to understand exactly which version you're looking at.

EQ700 Classic vs Integral: What's the Difference?

This is the first thing to understand.

Siemens offers different EQ700 configurations.

EQ700 Classic

Classic models typically use an external milk hose.

That means you can draw milk from an appropriate container rather than having the milk container fully integrated into the front of the machine.

EQ700 Integral

Integral versions use an integrated milk container.

That creates a tidier all-in-one appearance and may suit households regularly making milk drinks.

There are also different model numbers within those groups.

Features can vary.

Always check the complete Siemens model number before buying.

What Coffee Does the EQ700 Make?

A lot.

The EQ700's coffeeWorld system includes a large range of drinks inspired by coffee traditions from different countries.

Depending on model, this can include drinks such as:

  • Espresso
  • Coffee
  • Cappuccino
  • Latte Macchiato
  • Caffè Latte
  • Flat White
  • Espresso Macchiato
  • Cortado
  • White Coffee
  • Kaapi
  • Large Black
  • Warm Milk
  • Milk Foam

Selected newer variants add drinks including:

  • Cold Brew
  • Cold Brew Macchiato

This is one of those machines where exploring the drinks menu is genuinely part of the experience.

iSelect Display

The interface is one of the strongest reasons to choose EQ700.

Siemens uses a large full-touch iSelect display rather than relying on a row of basic drink icons.

That's particularly important because of how many recipes are available.

A huge drink library is useless if finding anything requires navigating a terrible interface.

The EQ700 feels more like a modern premium appliance.

coffeeWorld

coffeeWorld is Siemens' international drinks library.

This goes beyond simply having Espresso, Coffee, Latte and Cappuccino.

The idea is to let you explore coffee preparations from different countries.

Whether that's valuable depends on your personality.

If you make the same flat white every morning, you may stop exploring after the first week.

If several people use the machine and like different coffees, it becomes much more useful.

Coffee Quality

Siemens calls the underlying system iAroma.

The important part for the buyer is that grinder, heating system, water flow and brewing unit are designed to operate together.

As with any bean-to-cup machine, bean quality remains critical.

A £1,000 automatic machine cannot rescue stale, badly roasted coffee.

Use fresh beans, experiment with the aroma and grinder settings, and the EQ700 can produce very good automatic coffee.

aromaSelect

Current EQ700 machines offer multiple aroma profiles.

These alter how the coffee is prepared rather than simply changing the final volume.

That gives you another way of tailoring flavour without manually controlling espresso extraction.

Again, this is the automatic-machine philosophy:

personalisation without requiring barista technique.

Espresso

Select Espresso.

The EQ700 handles:

  • grinding;
  • dosing;
  • brewing;
  • grounds disposal.

It's fast and repeatable.

If you want to manually manipulate extraction, don't buy an EQ700.

If you want espresso without touching ground coffee, you're in exactly the right category.

Cappuccino and Latte

Milk drinks are automatic.

Depending on the EQ700 version, milk comes from either the integrated container or an external source through the milk hose.

Select the drink and the machine handles coffee and milk preparation without requiring you to move the cup.

That's exactly what a premium bean-to-cup machine should do.

Flat White

Flat white is included on current machines.

Again, this is automated milk rather than manually steamed microfoam.

That means consistency and convenience take priority over latte-art-level control.

For most bean-to-cup buyers, that's the correct trade-off.

Cold Brew

Selected newer EQ700 models add Cold Brew.

This is particularly interesting because premium automatic machines are increasingly moving beyond purely hot drinks.

If Cold Brew matters to you, check the specific EQ700 model before ordering.

Don't assume every machine carrying the EQ700 badge has it.

Home Connect

EQ700 connects to Siemens' Home Connect ecosystem.

That expands functionality through your phone, including remote features and access to additional coffee functionality.

Smart connectivity makes more sense on a coffee machine than it initially sounds.

It can be useful for:

  • exploring recipes;
  • personalisation;
  • managing favourite drinks;
  • diagnostics and machine information.

But we wouldn't buy EQ700 purely because it has an app.

The machine needs to be excellent from its own screen.

Fortunately, it is.

autoMilk Clean

Milk hygiene is one of the annoying parts of owning an automatic machine.

Siemens uses an automatic steam-cleaning process called autoMilk Clean after milk preparation.

That's useful.

But don't interpret automatic cleaning as permission to ignore milk components indefinitely.

You'll still need to follow the manufacturer's full cleaning instructions.

Size

Current EQ700 Classic models measure approximately:

30.9cm wide × 38cm high × 46.7cm deep.

Integral models are wider at around:

35.2cm wide × 38cm high × 46.7cm deep.

The 2.4-litre water tank is generous.

This isn't a compact machine.

Measure your kitchen before ordering.

EQ700 vs De’Longhi Rivelia

Rivelia

Better for:

  • compact design;
  • Bean Switch;
  • switching to decaf;
  • generally lower entry pricing;
  • straightforward everyday use.

EQ700

Better for:

  • larger touchscreen experience;
  • huge international drinks library;
  • smart connectivity;
  • larger water capacity;
  • Cold Brew on selected versions.

This is a much closer comparison than brand popularity might suggest.

EQ700 vs Eletta Explore

If cold drinks are important, this becomes interesting.

Eletta Explore is built heavily around hot and cold coffee, including LatteCrema Cool.

Selected EQ700 variants now offer Cold Brew, but Eletta Explore remains the more comprehensive cold-drink proposition.

For touchscreen and connected functionality, EQ700 is extremely strong.

Who Should Buy the Siemens EQ700?

Buy it if:

  • you want a premium automatic machine;
  • several people use it;
  • you like trying different coffee drinks;
  • touchscreen operation matters;
  • automatic milk matters;
  • smart connectivity appeals;
  • you want something beyond the obvious De’Longhi/JURA choices.

Who Shouldn't Buy It?

Look elsewhere if:

  • you make one simple coffee;
  • kitchen space is tight;
  • you don't care about apps or large displays;
  • you want manual espresso;
  • you're paying for features you won't use.

Final Verdict

The EQ700 deserves much more attention than it often receives.

Its biggest strength isn't any single drink.

It's the overall user experience.

A large display, extensive coffeeWorld library, automatic milk, aroma personalisation, cleaning technology and Home Connect combine into a machine that feels appropriately premium.

Just choose the model carefully.

EQ700 Classic, Integral and newer Cold Brew-capable versions aren't identical.

Once you've established which version you're buying, though, this is a genuine rival to De’Longhi and JURA.
